Lipscomb Academy traveled down the road to visit neighboring Franklin Road Academy for their first regional matchup Friday night. The Mustangs pulled out an impressive 45-7 win to go 1-0 in region play.
The Mustangs started off fast and never looked back. They racked up 42 points in the first half with the only FRA score coming from a wild 98 yard kick off return mid way through the second quarter.
The second half was played with a running clock and the Mustangs added a final touchdown late in the fourth quarter to win 45-7.

Lipscomb threw for 275 yards and rushed for an additional 103. Luther Richeeson threw 20 – 21 for 221 yards and one TD and Hank Brown passed 5 of 8 for 54 yards.
The Mustangs rushed for 103 total yards with Alex Broome leading with 53, followed closely by Carlin walker with 41 yards and Ayden Houston with 15.
“Region wins are important and coming away injury free from a 48 minute test is important. Our boys competed, got better and went 1-0 this week. We’re ready for our next 48 minute test on Thursday.” Trent Dilfer, Lipscomb Academy head coach.
The Mustangs travel to Murfreesboro to face off with the also undefeated and defending 6A State Champions Oakland High School Thursday, September 23.
